The First Church in Sterling serves a full dinner meal at noon in the church Parish Hall in a hospitable, respectful, and welcoming setting to folks in our community who would enjoy a good meal and/or company. We make a special effort to invite the elderly. Deliveries are made to those unable to attend the lunch. From this site you can volunteer to help us cook, set-up, serve, clean-up as well as other important tasks necessary for each lunch.
New member coffees start at approximately 11:15 am in the Houghton Room. Some weeks, no one new attends (and you get to go home early). We simply go around the circle and introduce ourselves (leaders included) asking, “who are you, and why did you come to church today?” (Leaving room for a deep and wide interpretation of how to answer those two questions). And then we leave time for questions and conversation about the church.
We all know that a lot of work goes in to keeping coffee hour going every week. MLTs and other groups in the church are invited to host a week. This is a great way to get the word out about your group!
